SEDATION DENTISTRY
Statistics show that 50% of Americans avoid regular dental visits because of anxiety. Are you one of them? Dr. Kerbs understand dental phobia and offers safe, effective solutions. With sedation dentistry, our dentists eliminates= fear and deliver a stress-free dental care experience.
What is sedation dentistry?
Sedation dentistry is the use of calming medications to alleviate anxiety and promote deep relaxation.
Am I a candidate for sedation dentistry?
Dr. Kerbs will discuss your dental needs, medical history, and current medications, if any, to determine the sedation method that's right for you. You may be a candidate if you:
- Suffer from mild to intense dental anxiety
- Have a negative dental care experience in your past
- Are fearful of needles
- Need multiple and/or lengthy procedures performed
- Want to complete your dental work in as few appointment as possible
- Don't like the sounds, sights, or smells in a dental office
What forms of sedation does Merrill Ranch Dental offer?
We offers nitrous oxide and oral sedation. Both are safe, effective, and used by millions of Americans to curb anxiety and encourage peace and relaxation.
Nitrous oxide, commonly called laughing gas, is inhaled through a nasal mask. This commonly used gas makes patients feel warm, safe, and secure. You'll be awake during your treatments, but blissfully comfortable and content. The effects of nitrous diminish quickly after removal of the mask, so you can return to your routine immediately following your appointment.
As an oral sedation patient, you'll take a sedative about an hour before your appointment, then ride with a friend or family member to our office. (Your companion will also need to accompany you home.) You'll enter a state of total physical and mental relaxation, and Dr. Kerbs will perform your dental work, potentially completing several procedures in a single appointment to turn back the clock on your smile. You'll be able to converse with our team during your treatments, and we'll monitor your vital signs at all times. Oral sedation wears off gradually and leaves patients with no memory of treatment details. Most patients resume normal activities the day following their sedation dentistry appointment.
